Joe- Got your message about Wife 1.0. I can sympathize but am unable to help. Having my own similar problems when I upgraded from College 1.0 to Workplace 1.0. Workplace 1.0 was guaranteed to expand my CheckDrive (which it did) but in actuality it was soon gobbling up all free space on my LifeDrive. Among other things (just like Wife 1.0) it began interfering with other treasured programs.
For instance I could no longer log on to sleepinlate@weekends.com. and of course Beerbash 2.5 was out of the question. (Workplace 1.0 also seemed to bring along something called Maturity 2.3 and Responsibility 4.2- things College 1.0 never prepared me for.)
In desperation, Gradschool 1.0 was a temporary fix, it did restore "sleepinlate" and "Beerbash". Only Maturity 2.3 seemed to slow them down or at least took all the fun out of them. Gradschool 1.0 also turned out to be a major resource drain. The only way out of it was to upgrade to Workplace 2.0 which put me right back where I started - only with slightly bigger numbers.
After Gradschool 1.0 some people opt for Gradschool 2.0 instead of Workplace 2.0. They soon get caught in a vicious cycle of Gradschool upgrades and end up with goaties, sandals and eventually install the GradSchool deluxe package Professionalstudent 3.0 or worse yet they are saddled with career choice Collegeprof 1.0. Avoid these at all costs!!
As part of the install process it (Gradschool 1.0) brings along StudentLoan 3.0 which is a pesky little program of its own. Upgrading to Workplace 2.0 does not do a clean uninstall of this critter. It has been known to linger on your CheckDrive for up to 10 years.
Eventually you are supposed to be able to download PensionPlan 3.2 to replace Workplace 2.0. (Only after you have finally managed to successfully uninstall StudentLoan3.0- Good Luck!) Unfortunately PensionPlan 3.2 is not 100% reliable.
BigBro software has promised a utility to cure the dilemma. They are calling it FICA 1.0. However, nobody with more than 75 megahertz thinks BigBro will be able to deliver as promised. They have a poor track record in the lifeware industry. The upside to depending on FICA 1.0 is that you will only need a limited size CheckDrive. (Which after all was my original problem.)
